Ross Castle In Killarney Is Well Worth A Visit

by Francis Jackson on April 19, 2012

A few minutes drive from the town of Killarney in Ireland Ross Castle stands majestically on the shore of the Lakes of Killarney. The surrounding Killarney National Park is a peaceful woodland with numerous pathways for a relaxing walk. The visitor can board a cruiser beside the castle to take a guided tour of the lakes.

Ross Castle was first built in the late 15th century by the chieftans of the locality the O’Donoghues. During the Desmond Rebellion of the 1580s the castle fell in to the possession of the McCarthy Clan. They leased the castle and the lands to the ancestors of the Earls of Kenmare.

Fun In County Clare

by Francis Jackson on April 18, 2012

The rugged landscape is one of County Clare’s main visitor attractions and this is really seen to its best in the world-famous Burren, a limestone area which is very popular with botanists, hill walkers and cavers.

There are lots of b&bs available for the visitor, all of high quality and most of very reasonable cost. There are very well priced hotels to be found in the towns of Ennis, Kilrush, Kilkee, Lisdoonvarna and Lahinch.

At present all accommodation is of very high standard and hotels and bed and breakfasts serve good fresh local food in their full Irish Breakfast or Continental Breakfast.
